Long weekends in China in 2027
With a Saturday & Sunday weekend, these holidays create breaks of three days or more. They're the busiest times for leave requests, so it pays to plan cover early.
These breaks are based on the statutory days plus normal weekends. The official schedule usually extends Spring Festival and National Day into longer breaks with make-up working days.

13 statutory days since 2025
China increased its statutory public holidays from 11 to 13 days in 2025: Chinese New Year's Eve became a holiday, and Labour Day became two days.
Expect longer breaks and make-up working days
Each year the State Council turns these statutory days into longer breaks (like the Spring Festival and National Day "Golden Weeks") by moving weekend days. Employees then work on some Saturdays or Sundays to make up for it. The official 2027 schedule usually comes out in November 2026, so plan leave around it.
Working on a statutory holiday
Under China's Labour Law, employees who work on a statutory public holiday must be paid at least 300% of their normal wage for that day.
Holidays for some groups only
Some days are holidays only for certain people: a half day for women on International Women's Day (8 March), a half day for young people aged 14 to 28 on Youth Day (4 May), and Children's Day (1 June) for children under 14.
